The green light for the transport network of the future | News
The time has come: on 8 February 2024, the green light was given for the rail network of the future. The “Smart Rail Connectivity Campus” project focuses on intelligent “smart” solutions for rail transport. As the name suggests, the aim is to establish a university-based research and development facility in Annaberg-Buchholz, designed to take rail technologies to a higher, future-proof level. The railway line between Annaberg-Buchholz and Schwarzenberg will serve as the test track. The launch was attended by high-profile guests such as Dr Volker Wissing, Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, and Michael Kretschmer, Minister-President of Saxony, with whom our CEO Ronald Sieber was able to hold interesting technical discussions on site.
The Chemnitz University of Technology, the town of Annaberg-Buchholz and numerous network partners are playing a leading role in this innovation project. Through collaboration with regional and national companies and research institutions, an interdisciplinary platform for innovation is being created. We at SYS TEC electronic are also participating as a partner, contributing our expertise in embedded hardware with communication interfaces to one of the many research projects. The aim is to establish the research campus as a starting point for structural change in the Chemnitz-Erzgebirge region and to harness the region’s potential in the field of mobility.
