Relevant process data, key performance indicators and essential order data are made available to the relevant systems throughout the entire automation pyramid. This ensures a consistently accurate, real-time overview of the system’s status, from the sensor or edge level of production right through to the ERP system, offering the following benefits:
- precise capacity planning and reliable customer communication;
- improved quality of manufactured products and a reduction in defective parts;
- Predictive maintenance, even before machine or plant components fail;
- energy monitoring and optimisation.
Three companies have pooled their core expertise and are presenting a joint retrofit use case in which an existing machine was retrofitted with additional sensor technology to detect anomalies at an early stage using structure-borne sound analysis and corresponding data pre-processing at the edge level (SYS TEC electronic AG). An MES system focused on zero-defect tolerance (Pickert & Partner GmbH) identifies potential for optimisation. The TRANSCONNECT® interface server (SQL Projekt AG) handles the overarching data integration, aggregates all relevant data and makes it available to the relevant systems at the right time and in the right format.
