IoT chip for direct cloud connectivity without a gateway | Expertise

Plug it in – done – Cloud!
Our freely programmable IoT chip for a direct cloud connection without a gateway is coming to the embedded World trade fair.
In recent years, the ‘Internet of Things’ has become an integral part of everyday life. More and more devices are connected to one another; alongside PCs and smartphones, even cars, televisions and fridges can now send and receive data via the internet. In industry, processes are increasingly being digitised to enable access to data regardless of location or time. Communication via network structures renders previously fixed cabling obsolete and instead allows for a flexible, configurable exchange of measurement data and control commands between different devices.
We have addressed the IoT challenge and developed a plug-in computing core for connecting to the cloud. The result is an IoT chip that is easy to integrate, designed for use in the Internet of Things/Industry 4.0 sector and the associated connection of devices and machines to the cloud.
Our solution is freely programmable by the user. Unlike other IoT chip devices, our IoT chip combines Sensor2Cloud requirements with data pre-processing of time-critical signals right through to efficient control tasks. The relevant function libraries are already pre-installed for this purpose.
The advantages of our IoT chip lie in its range of applications, security and cloud connectivity. The chip includes libraries and protocols such as MQTT, Modbus and CANopen, which are ready for immediate use.
The templates supplied in the source code serve as a starting point for users to make their own customisations. Actuators and sensors can be connected directly via I²C and SPI.
This means that the entire measurement, control and regulation process can be handled on the IoT chip itself. The chip therefore operates autonomously and independently of the cloud. With other IoT chip devices, these processes typically take place in the cloud. Furthermore, no additional gateway is required for connection to the cloud.
Our IoT chip delivers M2M communication of the highest standard, is efficient and available at a reasonable cost.
The IoT chip is developed by SYS TEC electronic in Germany and can be used for projects in industry and mechanical engineering worldwide.
