Automatisierungstreff 2024: Data monitoring and evaluation made easy | News

Digital Transformation

16 April 2024 | 10.00 – 17.00 | WTZ Conference Centre, Heilbronn

Data collection, data preparation and data analysis are common tasks in day-to-day work. However, it is often complicated to record, collect and analyse precisely this necessary information. With our interactive workshop, we aim to make it easier for you to get started on digitalisation projects for data monitoring, even without in-depth IT knowledge.
We strongly encourage you to try things out and get involved!

Abstract

Improving sustainability and optimising cost factors require a high degree of process transparency. With the right tools, the necessary information can often be generated quite easily and without specialist IT knowledge. Our interactive workshop provides a solid basic understanding of the topics surrounding the recording, collection and analysis of data. Thanks to the growing adoption of low-code platforms, business departments are increasingly able to actively support the implementation of digitalisation projects even without in-depth IT knowledge. To this end, using the example of an easy-to-implement workflow, we will show you how to use the standard tools Node-RED, InfluxDB and Grafana effectively for this purpose. The focus of this practical workshop is on getting to know the tools through hands-on experience, experimentation and active participation.

Overview of topics

In this interactive workshop, theoretical and practical sections alternate with exercises covering the following key areas:

  • Introduction to the low-code platform Node-RED
  • Accessing digital and analogue inputs/outputs in Node-RED
  • Introduction to the time-series database InfluxDB
  • Using InfluxDB from within Node-RED
  • Introduction to the data visualisation platform Grafana
  • Visualising data in Grafana

Objectives

  • A basic understanding of the topics of recording, collecting and analysing data
  • A practical introduction to Node-RED, InfluxDB and Grafana

Target audience

  • Regardless of the industry or professional field you work in, if your day-to-day work involves data collection, data preparation and data analysis, then our workshop is just right for you
  • General technical knowledge required

Methodology

  • Theoretical and practical sessions with exercises; participants must bring their own laptop
  • Teams of two will work on a sysWORXX CTR-700 with an I/O simulator
