Single-chip CANopen safety solution
Due to the high degree of networking in applications such as Industry 4.0, energy supply and mobility, the need as well as the requirements for safety will continue to grow. In addition, this development is significantly influenced by an ever-increasing volume of real-time data. Single-chip CANopen safety solution
Functional safety is used to protect against hazards arising from faulty and malfunctioning devices. Functionally safe devices are used wherever people and the environment need to be protected. Safe systems are developed in compliance with relevant standards, such as the IEC61508 basic safety standard. A Safety Integrity Level (SIL) is determined for each safety function. This is a measure for the remaining residual risk.
In the course of the increasing importance of this topic, SYS TEC electronic has, for example, designed two CANopen Safety Chips for use in safety-relevant applications up to Safety Integrity Level 3. CANopen Safety is a protocol extension to the proven CANopen standard. The safety chips and their error detection mechanisms in particular have been thoroughly tested and certified by TÜV Rheinland.
Both chips contain the CANopen Safety protocol according to CiA DS304 and can be easily integrated by users into their own safety-related devices. Our customers' own software parts can also be subsequently loaded into the flash. Thus, it is possible to reliably use the CANopen Safety Chips in a variety of applications such as emergency stop buttons, safety relays and safe CANopen bus interfaces.
With the acquired project experience SYS TEC electronic is predestined to carry out device developments based on the CSC01 and also to take over other safety relevant projects.
