Digital Power Supply, Battery Management & Power Distribution Systems

Digital Power Supply

Due to constantly growing demands on modern electronic circuits, the development of power supplies is becoming more and more complex and multi-layered. Modern circuits with complex ICs, such as microcontrollers as well as FPGA usually require several supply voltages. Often, even a special, individual power supply is required for the respective individual components.

SYS TEC electronic offers competent and, above all, safe solutions to meet these growing challenges.

For example, we develop power supply modules that can cover all country-specific on-board voltages in rail vehicles. These feature a digital control concept based on a microcontroller that monitors the various process variables. With the aid of integrated on-board diagnostics, the current voltage and current values as well as the current power consumption are measured and made available via a backplane bus.

The power supply of our module is of course short-circuit proof, has over- and undervoltage protection, inrush current limiting, output power limiting, overtemperature protection and operates with high efficiency.

The result is a robust, intelligent ultra-wide-range power supply that is ideally suited to meet the demanding requirements of railroad technology.

Battery Management Systems

Alongside high-quality battery cells, the Battery Management System (BMS) is one of the most important components of a battery. Reliable operation and lasting functionality of the BMS can only be achieved with the highest level of development and manufacturing expertise. In addition to functional development, special attention must be paid to environmental influences.

SYS TEC electronic supports you as a service provider in the conceptual design as well as the development of the electronics of battery management systems up to series production in highest quality. The electronic modules of the BMS developed by us are equipped with specific software, which guarantees an optimal and safe use of the battery. This prevents it from overheating due to internal or external influences and, in the worst case, from catching fire.

With our expertise in the development and verification of analog circuits combined with our portfolio of FPGA designs, we are able to capture and process the input values with high resolution and precision. In combination with our IEC 61131-3 PLC control software, it is also possible for us to implement individual BMS solutions for you that are adapted to the conditions of the battery in terms of form and function.

Web-based remote control and monitoring of power distribution systems

Electrical power networks form the backbone of any modern infrastructure. The high as well as medium voltage levels are centrally monitored and controlled by network operators. For the low-voltage level, however, more flexible solutions are increasingly required - also due to the large number of decentralized feed-in points resulting from the use of renewable energies such as solar and wind power.

The IEC 61850 standard defines a transmission protocol for station automation of electrical switchgear. In the case of decentralized systems, there is also usually a requirement for local processing of location-specific information and user-specific adjustments. For this purpose, a soft PLC offers itself as a cost-effective and flexible implementation.

The combination of IEC 61850-compliant protocol software and a soft PLC provides a solution that can be used to address the higher-level control system and the local sensor/actuator level equally efficiently. In addition to local inputs and outputs of the control system, the data points exchanged with the control level are faded in, so that full access to the system data is guaranteed via the PLC program. The data thus obtained can be conveniently processed and re-linked. This has the advantage that the amount of data is reduced considerably and thus the required data transmission bandwidth is reduced.

Finally, there is web-based access via browser for remote control and monitoring of such energy distribution systems. The data obtained can be evaluated and control instructions can be issued. SYS TEC electronic has already successfully implemented and integrated such systems. Benefit from our experience. We are happy to advise and support you!
