Condition monitoring is the key to avoiding machine failures and unplanned downtimes. The more physical variables are included in the monitoring, the more comprehensive the overall picture of the system. For example, the analysis of structure-borne noise often requires additional measured variables, such as heat generation and energy consumption, in order to enable context-related statements. In practice, therefore, an overall measurement system is often used that includes other wired sensors in addition to the vibration sensors. For measurements on moving parts or over distributed areas, battery-powered wireless sensors are also an option.
The workshop participants will use a simple drive model to familiarize themselves with the basics of structure-borne sound analysis and learn how the measured values acquired by the vibration sensor can be converted locally in the edge controller into a discrete frequency spectrum and visualized graphically. In addition, the participants use further wired sensors, supplemented by radio-based meshnet beacons. Thus, the workshop provides a comprehensive overview of condition monitoring possibilities.

The participants receive an introduction to vibration analysis based on a simple drive model. How are the acquired measured values locally in the edge controller converted into a discrete frequency spectrum, graphically visualized? In addition, other wired sensors as well as radio-based Meshnet beacons are evaluated.
The workshop is aimed at developers and product managers of condition monitoring solutions, with a particular focus on vibration analysis for condition assessment of rotating machine parts.
