SYS TEC implements new EU law (RoHS)

SYS TEC electronic GmbH RoHS Statement and Policy

The RoHS standards ratified in the German law Elektro- und Elektronikgesetz (ElektroG) in 16th March 2005 define a deadline for distribution of electrical and electronic equipment and products after 1st July 2006, containing one or more of six environmental hazardous substances from homogeneous materials. The list of these substances includes 0.1% w/w of lead, hexavalent chromium, mercury, PBDEs and PBBs (polybromated diphenyl ether) as well as 0.01% w/w of cadmium.

Thereby, a homogenous material is defined as a material that is not further separable into its elements. While pure synthetics, for example, is considered to be a homogenous material, printed synthetics or soldered wires or components are not homogenous materials.

The commonly used term “lead-free” is thereby mostly used as an indication of components that do not contain lead or a lead free soldering process. However, whenever the term lead-free is used with products manufactured by SYS TEC electronic GmbH, it is used as an equivalent to the RoHS conformity of these products.

SYS TEC electronic GmbH will ensure production conform to the RoHS standards from 1st July 2006. However, this is only possible if our suppliers are able to deliver electronic components conformant to the RoHS standards before the deadline of 1st July 2006 applies. Thus, for some products the RoHS conformity might be achieved delayed until end of Q2 2006.

If one of our customers is affected by any exception of the RoHS regulations (i.e. medical equipment, control and surveillance instruments) we are able to continue production and delivery of products without RoHS conformity as well. Please call us to discuss.
