 Headlight Testing Device
AUTOMOTIVE LIGHTING Reutlingen GmbH is a manufacturer of motor vehicle
headlights. As contract development, SYS TEC developed and manufactured
headlight testing devices for manual and semi-automatic testing of
vehicle headlights. The devices are used in headlight development,
model building, testing and for analyzing serial parts. The headlight
testing device is designed as a modular insertion system and can be
assembled per utilization. Generally, the configuration of all
functions is done from the PC. Individual functions can, however, also
be operated directly on the headlight test device. An essential
component of development was SYS TEC 's know-how in industrial
communications via USB. A powerful COM – object server was used for the
PC, which was placed on the USB interface. In this way, the user is
independent when creating the PC software. Development was done in
close collaboration with AUTOMOTIVE LIGHTING Reutlingen GmbH.
Manufacture of the complex devices at SYS TEC (prototypes and series)
has a distinct advantage for our customers. The development engineer
managing the project directly oversees production testing and
compliance with technical parameters. In this project, the complete job
from specification, hardware development, software development,
integration and verification on a prototype on up to manufacturing of a
small series was done from one source.
The headlight testing device...
- switches the supply voltages required for the headlight up to 36
V and currents up 20A
- generates discrete, compatible signals for accessing the
headlight or electronics on the headlight
- evaluates the discrete signals emitted by the electronics on the
headlight
- communicates via serial interfaces (LIN, CAN) with the
electronics on the headlight
- communicates with a PC for expanded testing functionality via the
USB interface (USB 2.0).
