the PLC runtime system make possible process data communication using
network variables. When this is done, the I/O devices on the CAN-bus
behave as if they were an integral part of a central control system.
This is independent of the manufacturer and the positioning of the I/O
devices. Whether the I/O device is mounted 50 or 500m from the master
system plays almost no role.
